I was bitten by a tick

and really, this is scary. Apparently the little bastard climbed up my sleeve while I was raking leaves and dug in just behind my armpit. I never felt it there, even in the shower. But I did feel the result: a saucer sized, raised welt that really, really hurt. It was absolutely disgusting to think he was there and I didn't know.

My best friend, Dr. Kathy, prescribed me antibiotics and the swelling and pain in the bite area is WAAAAAY better but the drugs make me feel like I fell off the house. Achy. Grumpy. Nightmares. And I went asleep in my chair yesterday afternoon in the middle of the day.

So today I head out to a horse farm - I'm doing a story on the impact of the horse industry to Maine's economy. What do you want to bet there will be more ticks there?

I'm going over myself with a magnifying glass when I return.

By the way, does anyone know if I can drink alcohol while on antibiotics? I definitely think that would help.

Go here to find your answer. Seems that it depends on which antibiotic your on. Sorry that you're feeling so bad!

I had that happen once. I picked up a tick somewhere without knowing it. I remember in the shower feeling a little bump behind my knee, and glancing around and seeing a little spot. I just figured it was a mole I'd never noticed.

A week or so later I was at work, and the back of my knee started really itching! I scratched, scratched, scratched. Later on I realized that was the same spot where there'd been a "mole" a week before. Only now there was nothing but a spot. Where'd the "mole" go? What the...? ewwwwwwwwwwww

The realization hit me. The itching must have been the tick leaving, and it's anesthetizing affect wearing off. Gross.

My now ex-husband came home from hunting. I asked him to look at the mole just below my butt cheek. He told me it was a tick not a mole. He removed the tick! I'm pretty sure you are not supposed to drink alcohol while on any medication! Love the Sweet Pea Cabin! Looks so very cozy!
